Carrying on the Torch

Now that Jesse and I have moved to San Francisco, we are taking the memories of Peaches with us and learning from them.  She taught me about my insight into animals and the deep connection I feel with them.  I am continuing the connection through helping other bunnies now.

I have joined up with Save A Bunny, a rabbit rescue organization.  When I found out about this group, I was thrilled that such a great group existed, then when I got involved I was thrilled to be helping too.  Save A Bunny is amazing, they have a sanctuary for rabbits to live, instead of being inhumanely treated or euthanized.  Then there is a large fostering community, and the end goal is to have these animals adopted.  Talk about second chances?  It's worth more than words can express.  Go to Saveabunny.org, and support humanity!

Ashes

Peaches was cremated and her ashes are returned to us. She will stay with us forever now.

Recollections

Peaches was the friend that made special connections. A few celebrations of Peaches life:
- One day we were walking and a Tri-Met bus stopped and asked us if Peaches was a rabbit and then asked if we would want to ride the bus for awhile!
- She went through a chewing phase - it stopped, but only because all of the wires had been chewed and there may have been a slight jolt at one point.
- She liked to sit in the windowsill and watch the kitty across the way.
- Eventually I did not put her harness on when we went for walks or to the park because Peaches stayed right by my side and would run in circles around me, but would jump into my lap also.
- One day I was totally upset and was crying on the floor, and she came out of her "bedroom" and laid right next to me, her nose to my nose.

Peaches was an angel in countless ways, and Jesse and I were blessed to have her for the last year, as she watched us throughout our first year of marriage and she also helped us love each other more.

Goodbye from Peaches

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Tuesday, June 9th is Peaches Day, as she lives in our memories as a very special friend. She was laid to rest, relieving her of the pain she had been feeling over the last couple of months. She now roams in clover fields, even fuller than the ones her and I laid in during her last few hours on Spaceship Earth.

Pilates and me

So whenever Kristine gets out her Yoga mat and that Pilates Magic Circle, I go crazy for it! I love to jump around when she is doing her hundreds and full rollups. There is something about the movement and that great magic circle that I just love. Once she sets the magic circle down, I jump inside of it, and then outside of it, and lay inside of it, and lay outside of it, it's so much fun!

Gotta go work on my abs now!
Peaches, the Pilates Sneaches.

Dandelions

Yesterday Kristine and I went for a walk. Do you know, that the dandelions are already blossoming! I could not believe my nose! I ate so many and got so full and plumped up. Then I hopped around and Kristine had me do some calisthenics hopping up and down the flight of stairs outside our apartment building.

Spring will be here soon!

Sending smiles your way,
Peaches

X-Rays and Caged Days

Tuesday morning I did not quite give into the "going for a walk" tidbit with being swaddled up and everything. I was keen to the vibe. My favorite blue blanket was packed along with some of my favorite foods: carrot, banana, cauliflower, romaine, and radish tops. I couldn't believe the gourmet meals that awaited me, but I did not know that I would enjoy those while surround by other caged animals - dogs and cats, mostly.

So, I went under for 10 minutes, had x-rays, a nail trim and some light pampering. Then the results to my bulging right jaw line: a tooth abscess!

Surgery may come, but for now I am receiving a delicious dose of pina colada antibiotic in the morning and at night. I have also heard them talking about my age: I think they realize I am not 2 years old like they thought, but more like 5 or 6! Us rabbits can be a little tricky in disguising this due to our natural beauty and grace!

Peace from Peaches.
